1. What types of face lift surgery are available?
You can do a full face lift, which includes a face and necklift or just limit the lift to the neck.
2. Are there other alternative procedures?
There are minimal access face lifts which are great in carefully selected patients.
3. Is face lift surgery painful?
Not as painful as you d think! You go home the same day as surgery with pain medication by mouth and that takes the edge off. There is also some numbness associated with face lift surgery for the first few days which is perfect because that helps with the pain.
4. Can I be awake during face lift surgery?
I only do face lift surgery with sedation and local anesthesia. I m convinced it lowers the incidence of bleeding after surgery. No need for a breathing tube or respirator/ventilator during facelift surgery.
5. What does SMAS stand for?
Superficial MusculoAponeurotic System - this is the more sturdy tissue underneath the skin that is the workhorse of the face lift. This keeps the results lasting for 10-15 years.
6. What is an endoscopic face lift?
Using a small camera, through small incisions, the ligaments that are loose and allow the face to sag, are released. You still have long incisions to remove the excess skin.
7. What is the average cost of face lift surgery?
The average costs of face lift surgery amounts to $7000-$10,000, all costs included.
