1. What is a facelift?
A facelift is a surgical procedure to reduce the signs of aging.
2. What are the benefits of a facelift procedure?
The obvious answer is that you look better. Looking better can improve your self esteem and the way other people respond to you.
3. Are there significant risks associated with facelift surgery?
As with anything in life there are risks. The vast majority of complications that occur with facelifts are nuisance problems that your surgeon will take care of as part of follow up visits. Serious complications include injury to nerves or skin that can result in permanent problems.
4. What are the objectives of facelift?
The objective is, of course, to look better. The details of that simple concept are numerous, but in my hands I like to think of it as a repositioning of the facial tissues to a position consistent with your youth. It is not a stretching, it is repositioning.
5. What is the basic procedure of Facelift?
Basically, using incisions around the ears and under the chin, access is gained to the deep tissues which are released and repositioned. Fat and skin are removed as necessary. I do this with the patient heavily sedated and avoid general anesthesia because of its complications.
6. Can I expect permanent results from a facelift?
Yes. You will always look different for having done the procedure. This does not mean that you will stop aging. You will just be aging from a new starting point.
7. Is there a common technique for facelift procedures?
Yes and No. The answer to this question depends on what level of detail you seek to describe. Every surgeon has their own way of doing the surgery which will make differences.
