An Interview With Dr. Scott R. Brundage, MD , A Qualified Plastic Surgeon For Moms In Holland

1. What is a facelift?

A facelift is a procedure that lifts and rejuvenates an aged face.

2. What are the benefits of a facelift procedure?

A facelift typically corrects those areas that are very visible with aging. This would include loose neck skin, jowl formation along the jaw line and deepening of the nasolabial folds (creases outside of the mouth on the cheeks).

3. What are the objectives of facelift?

To return the face to a more youthful appearance without making the individual look "tight".

4. What is the basic procedure of Facelift?

This entails incisions around the ears, elevation of the cheek and neck skin, removal of extra fat in the neck (liposuction), elevating loose deeper tissues, and finally removal of the excess skin that occurs with aging.

5. Is there a common technique for facelift procedures?

There are different types such as "deep plane", SMAS type lifts and MACS lift. Your surgeon is the best person to tell you what would work best for you.

6. How long before I can resume normal activities after my facelift?

Most normal activities can be resumed at 4 weeks. You are up and about right after surgery.

7. How do I find a qualified surgeon in my area?

Most recommend that you see a surgeon board certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Speaking with your surgeon and asking how frequently they perform these surgeries is also helpful.
